Julia "JuJu" Prescher (Prater)
Service for Julia Prescher 58 of Cleburne will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Pastor Stephen McCoy will officiate. Burial will be in Baker Lain cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Cole Prater, Curt Prater, Adam Mann, Eric Johnson, Neal Rudderow and lifelong friend, Ronnie Booth. Honorary Pallbearer will be Truman Johnson. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Julia passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Ft Worth, Texas surrounded by her family. She was diagnosed on August 3, 2017 with non-small cell carcinoma, a very aggressive lung cancer. Julia chose to battle this cancer and fight to extend her life in hopes of meeting and holding her only great granddaughter, Presley Leighann Johnson who was born, January 17, 2018.

Julia was born June 16, 1959 in Cleburne to Robert E. (Bob) and Mary Prater. She met the love of her life, Keith Prescher and they were married July 2, 1976. Julia loved life, loved her family and loved being a caregiver to others. She loved country living and long road trips where she enjoyed visiting all the painted churches throughout the State of Texas. Cooking, camping, gardening and bird watching were among her favorite hobbies. Her most favorite thing in life was to be everyone’s “JuJu” a name given to her by her nephew, Adam Mann.

Julia loved taking part in community service projects. She participated in the Special Olympics for many years with her son Jayson. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Theta Sorority Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi where she chaired many committees. Her favorite was the Service Committee. One of the service projects was participating in the Whistle Stop Christmas Parade and Food Booths at Hulen Park where she created her famous cake pops and pretzels to raise money for area food banks.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. (Bob) and Mary Prater; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Lois Prater; maternal grandparents, Mike and Louise Ganos; and father in law, J.W Prescher. Survivors include husband, Keith Prescher; daughter, Misti Prescher; son, Jayson Prescher; granddaughter, Heather (Steven) Johnson; grandson, Jacob Guajardo; great grandsons, Layne Lopez, Ryan Johnson, Cooper Johnson; great granddaughter, Presley Johnson; brother, Mike (Debbe) Prater; sister, Toni (David) Hamm; mother in law, Mary Prescher; brothers-in-law, Darrell (Julie) Prescher and Ricky (Diane) Prescher; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; two very special uncles, Christ Ganos and Tom (Linda) Ganos of Wisconsin; and lifelong best friend, Karen Johnson of Cleburne.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in her name, to Alpha Omicron Theta Sorority and mailed to First State Bank of Grandview 303 Colonial Drive Cleburne, Texas 76033.
