Obituary for Betty Louise LaRash (Lindstrom)

A celebration of life for Betty Lindstrom LaRash, of Dallas, Texas will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 23, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne. Private family burial will be conducted at Rosehill Cemetery.
Mrs. LaRash passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. She was born in Peoria, IL. on July 24, 1930 and was the only child and beloved daughter of Henry and Irma Hines Lindstrom.
In the fall of 1942, Betty met the love of her life that would later become her husband. She met Joseph LaRash as her High School played against their rival High School in football. Joe was the standout star and Betty a fan. Betty graduated from Peoria Central in 1948 with honors and was selected as a Who’s Who in American High Schools.
Betty attended Colorado College but later transferred to be united with Joe and later graduated from Bradley University in 1952 with a degree in Education. She was elected into Who’s Who among college students. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and served as President her senior year. She was a Little Sister Sweetheart to the Sigma Chi fraternity. She married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph J. LaRash on April 5, 1952. Betty was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Cleburne. She was an active member of the community including volunteering for Meals on Wheels and a member of the International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons. Betty and Joe were small business owners in Cleburne owning LaRash Oil Company.

Betty loved her family with all her heart. She was a homemaker and raised 4 children with love and determination. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, music and reading. She was extremely proud of her 4 children and their independence. Betty viewed education as a pathway to opportunity and sent all 4 children to college and graduate degrees.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Irma Lindstrom; husband, Joseph J. LaRash; son, John A. LaRash and granddaughter, Christena Lindstrom LaRash.

Mrs. LaRash is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen J. LaRash and wife, Suzie, of Dallas; daughters, Debbie LaRash Oates and husband, Nickey, of Dallas and Cathy LaRash Walker and husband Stephen of Atlanta; grandchildren, Lindsay LaRash McKinney, Robert LaRash, Caroline LaRash Kerr, Elizabeth Oates Goodyear, Melissa Oates, Joseph LaRash, Avery Walker and Alex Walker; and six great grandchildren.
