Graveside services for Dr.Agatha Mae TeMaat, PhD, 87, recently of Cleburne and formerly of Virginia, will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
Dr. TeMaat passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Cleburne. She was born to Albert John and Philomena Schmidt TeMaat on June 9, 1922 in Wright, Kansas. Agatha was a nun for 30 years with the Order of Sisters of Mercy, where she began her journey into education, teaching students from upper grades through college, as well as serving as a principal for several years. After leaving the convent, she continued her educational journey, as Director of Educational Services for public television in Kansas City, MO, channel 19. Then worked for P.B.S. in Denver, Colorado for many years, producing numerous programs. Agatha loved to travel, worldwide. She enjoyed photography and writing in her journals. In her last months, she enjoyed playing and often winning at Bingo. Her outgoing and adventurous nature and loving spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; and her two yorkies.
Survivors include her sister, Jane Evans and husband, Jim of Michigan; sister in law, Wilma TeMaat of California; 31 nieces and nephews; numerous other relatives and a host of friends across the country.
