Service for A. J. Lambert, 89, of Joshua, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 25, 2013 in First United Methodist Church in Joshua. Pastor Dale Wilbanks and the Reverend Roy Gee will officiate. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hunt, Wade Hunt, Clint Hunt, Kevin Hunt, David King, Jay Brian, and Skeeter Brian. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the church. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church at 114 Paula Dr., Joshua, Texas 76058 in his honor.
A.J. Lambert passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Fort Worth. He was born Feb. 19, 1924 in Hill County to Tobe A.A. and Ella Thomas Lambert. He married Marie Hunt on March 20, 1943 in Glen Rose.
Mr. Lambert served in the United States Army during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Lambert Oil Company for 43 years where he began the retiring process in 1990, finally retiring in 2003. He was a 32nd degree Mason as well as a Shriner in Joshua. He served as a city judge, city councilman, County Commissioner of Precinct 2 and fire chief of the Volunteer Fire Department in Joshua. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Joshua.
Mr. Lambert was a kind and giving man, but also tough. He was an honest and ethical man who lived the American Dream and was an inspiration to many. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling. Pa as his grandchildren call him was known as a family man who you always knew where you stood with. His dedication to his God, family and community will live on through the mark he made on all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Marie Lambert; daughter, Kathy Lambert; grandchildren, Jay Brian and his wife, Melissa, Angie Brian and Rebecca Carlock; great grandchildren, Matt, Jenna, Emma and Jaxson; sister, Ruth King; brother in law, Wayne Hunt and his wife, Betty; five nephews; one niece; and a host of other relatives and friends.
