Mr. Kennon passed away Monday, April 10, 2006 in Austin. He was born November 28, 1910 in Bono, Texas to John Walter and Claudia Templeton Kennon. He married Alma Giddens on December 25, 1937 in Commerce, Texas and they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1987.

Mr. Kennon was a retired farmer and rancher. He was a member of First Christian Church of Cleburne where he was an elder and board member.

Alfred Ward Kennon is survived by two sons, Alfred Ward Kennon, Jr. of Dallas and Alan Giddens Kennon and wife Rebecca of Amarillo; daughter, Eleanor Kennon Moore and husband Michael of Austin; grandchildren, Andrea Moore Stover and Mark Stover of Austin; Alana Kennon Link and Aaron Link of Denver, Colorado; Ann Kennon of Amarillo; and one great grandchild, Dillon McNary Stover of Austin. He was preceded in death by his wife Alma Giddens Kennon on January 22, 1994.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Operation Blessing in care of the First Christian Church, 200 S. Nolan River Road, Cleburne, Texas 76033.
