Services for Alice Cole Callaway, 97, of Arlington, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m Friday, April 28, 2006 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Itasca Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Cole, Richard Cole, Jimmy Cole, Kirk Cole and Christian Cole.
Alice Cole Callaway passed away Monday, April 25, 2006 in Arlington. She was born June 2, 1908 in Osceola, Texas to John W. and Fereby Texana (Anna) Johnson Cole. She married J.D. Callaway on June 1, 1934 in Malone, Texas.
Mrs. Callaway was retired elementary teacher, member of Eastern Star for 70 years, member of St. Mark's Methodist Church of Cleburne and a member of the Retired Teachers of Texas.
Alice Cole Callaway is survived by her daughter, Brenda Callaway Gilmore of Arlington; grandchildren, Justin Gilmore and fiance', Maida Castro of Denton and Jennifer Gilmore of Arlington; nephews, Bill Cole of Cleburne, Richard Cole of Baton Rouge, LA,; sister in law, Jean Cole of Cleburne; three great nephews, one great niece and five great-great nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. ;son-in-law, Michael Gilmore; five brothers, Jess, Jack, Irving, Mark and Aston Cole.
Alice Cole Callaway will be remembered as a loving woman, who always put others first. We will miss her wonderful sense of humor, her laughter and kind heart. She blessed everyone who knew her.
