Alice Roberson

Service for Alice Scarbrough Roberson, 98, of Godley, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Kevin Bentley and the Reverend Greg Robinson will officiate. Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 in Iron Bluff Cemetery in Lone Star. Her grandsons will be pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Roberson passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 in Cleburne. She was born Feb. 1, 1915 in Beeville to John Laverne and Lillian Langston Slusser. She married Leslie V. Scarbrough in 1934 in Corpus Christi and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1968. She then married Charles Roberson on Feb. 16, 1980 in Lone Star and he preceded her in death in Nov. of 1998.

Mrs. Roberson worked for the Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Cleburne from 1948-1958 where she was in charge of the operating room. From 1958-1968 she worked for the Alvarado Clinic and Hospital as a charge nurse. From 1969-1979 she worked for Lone Star Steel in Lone Star, TX as an Industrial Nurse. Alice retired with 40 years of service as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lone Star Baptist Church in Lone Star and Bono Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two sons, Jerry Scarbrough and wife Rita of Livingston and Glenn Scarbrough and wife Sheila of Bono; nine grandchildren, Cynthia, Beverly, Sue, Michael, Randy, Jesse, Frank, Keith and Glenn; 14 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Blanche Gallier; son, Leslie Red Scarbrough; three infant sons; and one granddaughter, Debbie Scarbrough.
