Graveside service for Alvin M. Black, Sr., 88, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 in the Rosehill Cemetery. The Reverend Terry Williams will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Alvin M. Black, Sr. passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in Cleburne. He was born on September 9, 1922 in Rio Vista to Will L. and Ida Prescher Black.
Mr. Black served in W.W.II with the #822 Tank Destroyer Battilion and was a retired electrician with 30 years service at Cleburne Electric Company. He coached Little League and was involved with the Johnson County Youth Association Boxing Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
Alvin M. Black, Sr. is survived by his son, Alvin M. Black, Jr. and wife Annette of Mississippi; granddaughters, Melanie Black Marbut and husband Doug of Cleburne, Nikki Black Eyman and husband David of New Mexico, Heather Black Volkman and husband Chris of Ft. Worth and Holli Black Patnode and husband Broc of Burleson; grandson, Breck Bregel and wife Jewel of North Carolina; 10 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Rose Hedgecock and Betty Black, both of Cleburne and sister-in-law, Kay Black of Hico. He was preceded in death by a son, William Marvin "Buzzy" Black; granddaughter, Stephanie Black Huffman; brothers, Edd Black, Dick Black and one sister, Frances Norwood and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
