Annie Martin

Annie “Ann” Mae Grigsby Martin, 93 of Cleburne, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in Cleburne, Texas.

Ann was born on April 4, 1928 in Cleburne, Texas to Arthur James Grigsby and Leola Logan Grigsby Steph, and was the oldest daughter of 5 children. She was raised in Cleburne and graduated Cleburne High School in 1945. She was the beloved wife of 76 years to Arval Martin, Jr. (married 3/15/1946), mother to 3 children, and Nana to 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Ann worked in retail including her family grocery Martin’s Food Mart and served as a Park Ranger at Thousand Trails in Whitney. She was a longtime member of Field Street Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving in the Lady’s ministry, Choir, and assisting with her husband’s song ministry. Her hobbies included researching the family’s genealogy, cooking, sewing, and crafts. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Ann is survived by her husband Arval Martin, Jr. of Cleburne; children: Sherry Ledbetter and husband Robert of Cleburne, Kay Harris and husband Steve of Burleson, Steven Martin of Cleburne; grandchildren: Tricia Reynolds and husband Mark of Arlington, Christi Martindale and husband Brian of Cleburne, Dawn Acker of Cleburne, Lee Harris of Chicago, Lisa Giddings and husband Louis of Burleson, Amy Castillo and husband Anthony “Jojo” of Cleburne, and David Martin and wife Terry of Amarillo; 12 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Arthur Lee and William Eugene; 2 sisters: Betty Hughes and Dorothy Lask; and granddaughter: Kimberly Ann Hutto.

Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Field Street Baptist Church.
