Graveside service for Ardith Starr Raifsnider, 91, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 23, 2023, in Godley Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Adams officiating. There will be an open visitation from 10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M., Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Philip West, Jason West, Jim Davis, Greg Peterson, Jeff Davis, Jeremy Peterson, Keith Peterson and P.J. West. The honorary pallbearer is Greg McCarthy.
Ardith passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, in Cleburne. She was born July 29, 1931 to Martin and Elizabeth Horne Starr. Ardith married James T. Raifsnider on March 15, 1953 in Anchorage, Alaska. She worked for Montgomery Ward for over 20 years and USPS as a rural route carrier for over 10 years. Ardith enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. She liked canning and cooking and was especially known for her fried catfish. Ardith was an avid Texas Ranger fan. She spent countless hours reading and working crossword puzzles. Ardith was a serious game player of all kinds, including Bingo and 42. She shared her love of the written word and all things when she spent time educating her grandchildren. Family was the center of her world. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Susan West and Stan, Kathy Robinson and Jerry, Becky Peterson and Steve; 8 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 21 great-grandchildren plus 1 on the way; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother, Jim Starr; numerous nieces, nephews and a number of other relatives and friends.
Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; husband who passed September 7, 2013; son, Cliff Raifsnider; and brother, Martin Starr, Jr.
