Chapel services for Azell Cox, 78, of Joshua, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in the Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Emery J. Lilge Hospice House at 301 Medpark Circle, Burleson, Texas 76028.

Mr. Cox passed away in Burleson on Saturday, August 27, 2011. He was born to Logan Christopher and Velma Coker Cox on December 19, 1932 in Cottle County, Texas. He worked as a painter with General Motors for over 35 years. Mr. Cox served in the United States Army. He was an avid domino and 42 player. Azell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a longtime deacon. He was formerly a member of Chase Avenue Baptist Church. Azell owned and operated Suzzanes Beauty Salon in Fort Worth. Being the ultimate beautician, he even operated a salon at his home. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Azell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Cox; son, Harold Goebel; brother, James Cox; and nephew, Billy Neal Branscun.

Survivors include his daughter, Aretes Salmans and her husband, John; sister, Carma Nell Branscun; granddaughters, Teresa Richardson and Lori Chalmers; grandson, John "Butch" Salmans, Jr.; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces, Janice Roberts, Kolett Cox, and Linzi Holt; and a host of great nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
