Barbara “Jan’et” Allsup of Granbury died peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. She was 82.
Jan’et was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family, her friends, and her Lord with a passionate servant's heart. Jan’et is survived by her sons, Robert Allen Allsup and his wife Joanne of Irving, David Eugene Allsup of Austin, and James Michael Allsup and his wife Bonnie of Granbury, her brother, Pat Harrison and his wife Lanie of Weatherford, sister-in-law, Carolyn Kuhrt of Nacogdoches, as well as three nieces, nine grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She will be missed fondly by her childhood friend of 71 years, Loretta Carroll and her husband Eugene of Fort Worth as well as the surviving members of the Tech Girls club.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Eugene “Dick” Allsup and her sons, Gary Lee Allsup and William Mark Allsup.
Jan’et was born on April 12, 1935 in Breckenridge, TX, to parents Cliff and Ida Harrison. She graduated from Fort Worth Technical School in 1953. She married Dick Allsup on January 14, 1956 in Tarrant County. Over their 46 years of marriage until Dick’s death in 2002, the couple was blessed with a wonderful family, numerous business associates, and lifelong friends. Jan’et’s greatest treasures were her five children to whom she was a dedicated and loving mother. Her children remember her as a devoted parent who encouraged them to work hard and care for others. While she lived throughout Texas, Jan’et spent the last 27 years of her life in Fort Worth and the surrounding areas. Jan’et was grounded in her faith and was an active member of Acton Baptist Church outside of Granbury, TX.
Services for Jan’et are scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Crosier-Pearson Funeral Home in Cleburne, TX with the viewing at 10:00 am followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. Pastor Sonny Conatser will officiate. Burial services will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne at 12:30 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jan’et's life. The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers Debra McClung and Shel Monroe for their care for Jan’et during the last few months of her life as well as the amazing staff at Community Hospice of Texas.
