After a long hard courageous battle with cancer, Barbara Leverett, 73, received her angel wings February 17, 2021 at her home in Cleburne, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cleburne, Texas, on Sept 1, 1947, the daughter of the late Ruby & Charlie Throckmorton of the Parker, Texas Community. She attended Covington Elementary & High School & then attended and graduated from Rio Vista High School in 1965. She was a member of the Field Street Baptist Church.

Barbara married Travis (Bill) Leverett July 18, 1970. She was totally devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren, enjoying many years assisting them with raising and showing Palomino horses throughout the PHBA & AQHA Circuit. She had loved horses her entire life and in her early years could ride like the wind and enjoyed belonging to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse “Sheriffettes”. She was a strong woman with a mind of her own and never gave up until the task was accomplished.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her grandparents Jewel & Joe Taylor, Mattie & Jim Throckmorton, beloved aunt, Dot Taylor & cousin, Tommy Joe Durham.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Leverett, daughter, Brandye Crider and companion Wayne Vaughan, son, Brent Leverett and wife Julie. Also surviving is sister, Bettie Buckner and husband Pete; brother, Charles Throckmorton; grandchildren Cutter Crider, Canyon Crider, Cresson Crider, Luke Leverett and Caroline Leverett and step grandchildren Hannah Buford and Zach Hestilow; great grandchild Rhys Leverett and several beloved cousins.

In honoring Barbara’s wishes no funeral service is scheduled. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista, 201 S Cleburne Whitney Rd, Rio Vista, Texas 76093.
