Memorial services for Basil Steve “Johnny” Cotton, 78, loving brother, grandfather and friend, of Alvarado will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Chapel.
Johnny passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 in Alvarado. He was born on February 21, 1944 in Anstead, West Virginia. Johnny married Betty Lou Jenkins in 1979 in Alvarado. Johnny was a big talker, always with a joke or story to tell. He believed in living and loving with all you were and did so himself. Johnny was a sharp dresser, always dressed and wearing a cowboy hat when he was out and about. He enjoyed fishing or playing games, especially dominoes or cards with family and friends. His big hearted nature and loving spirit will be missed greatly. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wilson Cotton; mother, Ethel Marie Tate Cole; wife, Betty Lou Cotton; son, Ronald Johnson; and siblings, Marie Moncrief and Christine Gipson.
Survivors include his sister, Kathryn Cotton Mosley and her husband, Luther; daughter-in-law, Kathleen O’Connor; chosen daughter, Karla Winter and her husband, Klaus; grandson, Jared Johnson and his wife, Desiree; granddaughter, Scarlett Johnson Moore; great grandchildren, Zachary, Collin and Riley Johnson, Michael, Morgan and Macie Smith, Miley Moore, Nova Dudley, and Charlie Calvert; nephew, Joe Steven Mosley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
