Benny Allen

Benny Glenn Allen went to be with his Lord on May 5, 2009 after a courageous battle with heart and lung disease. Benny was born to Earl and Betty Allen on June 4, 1939 in Cleburne. He married Linda Sue Wilkerson on September 22, 1962 in Blum, they celebrated 47 loving years together.
Mr. Allen served in the US Army. He was a machinist supervisor for Santa Fe Railroad for 31 years. He also was a farm equipment dealer for 7 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rio Vista and the Covington New Hope Masonic Lodge.
Benny loved his family, he also loved reading his Bible, gardening and animals.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Allen of Covington; son, Ronnie Allen and wife, Cynthia of Rio Vista; daughters, Darlene Cox and husband, Danny of Rio Vista and Jenny Elaine Allen-Kiesel of Merdian; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Tommy Allen and wife, Carol, Luke Allen and Ricky Allen and wife, Sally; 6 sisters, Wanda Hollingsworth and husband, Bill, Lynda Ward and husband, Don, Sarah Beth Davis and husband, Bobby, Cindy Allen, Ramona Allen and Vicki Hopper and husband, Bob; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Debbie and Connie; brother, Randy Allen and granddaughter, Mandy Cox Brimer.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009 in the First Baptist Church, Rio Vista. The Rev. Paul Pinyan will officiate. Burial will be in Rio Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Cox, Mat Cox, Don Worley, Bob Hallmark, Johnny Moore and Jamie Spurlock. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Allen's nephews. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 p.m.
