Cleburne, Beth Withers Simmons died at the age of 88 at a local hospital Wednesday, February 9, 2005. Rosary will be recited at Cleburne's Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home at 7:00 PM, Friday February 11, 2005. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Cleburne followed by interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.

Beth Simmons was born May 28, 1916, in Maroa, Illinois, near Decatur, the daughter of Ira and Josie Mire Withers, both deceased. She married Artie Simmons on October 18, 1969. He preceded her in death in 1988.

Mrs. Simmons resigned after 25 ? years from the Department of Defense as a Budget Analyst, having spent 12 years in Washington D.C., as well as other government installations. She attended Brown's Business College in Decatur, Illinois and George Washington University in Washington D.C.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, past president of the Altar Society and Flower Club, as well as past president of Amores Librorum Book Club and Newcomers Club. She also worked a number of years in the Johnson County Cancer Society.

Survivors are one brother, Edwin D. Withers of Maroa, Illinois; godson, James A. Redmon, of Frisco, Texas and a very special friend, Bennie D. Millsap, of Cleburne, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Pollock, James Redmon, Wes Marti, Rick Neace, Mark Shenkir and Mike Mooney. Honorary pallbearers will be John J. White, Jake Rohr and Bill Roberts.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to the American Cancer Society.
