Graveside service for Bette Jo Bishop Ellis, 92, of Longview, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 19, 2023, in Bono Cemetery. Reverend Steve Dill will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Dru Summey, Brent Slaughter, Dan Slaughter, Aaron Ellis, W.A. Horton and Richard Ellis.
Bette passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, in Longview. She was born October 2, 1930 in Big Spring to Paul and Luella Davidson Bishop. Bette married Jesse Wendell Ellis on January 25, 1953 in Sweetwater. They were married for 53 beautiful years before his passing on August 21, 2006. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her cousins, Jon Sligh and wife, Marilyn of Diana, Texas, Carolyn Spiller and husband, Ned of Hammonds Port, New York, and Richard Ellis and wife, Donna of Plano, Texas; nephews, Jimmy and Chris Ellis of Bagwell, Texas and Doug Ellis of Cleburne, Texas; nieces, Sandra and Guy Hodge of Cleburne, Nelda and W.A. Horton of Whitney, Kathy Adcock of Clifton, JoAnn Ellis of Cleburne, Kay Ellis of Cleburne, and Deb and Brent Slaughter of Cleburne; along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
Bette is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jesse Wendell Ellis; stepfather, Roy Prim, Jr.; nephews, Larry Ellis, Wayne Ellis, and Joe Adcock; nieces, Karen McGee and Jean Dean; uncles, Donald Davidson, and Buster and Earline Davidson; aunt, Cleo Davidson and A.P. (Slick) Sligh.
