Mrs. Nelson passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010 in Fort Worth. She was born to Guy and Ada Josey Ratliff on January 9, 1927 in Raton, New Mexico. She was a loving and dedicated mother and wife. Bettie was of the Methodist faith. Bettie retired after over 15 years as an Associate with Wal-Mart, where she served as a greeter, as well as in the lay a way and fitting room departments. Before Wal-Mart, she worked as a typesetter with the Johnson County News. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, especially, painting and cross stitch; as well as collectibles, especially of Christmas villages and bells. It can be said that she was outgoing, with a friendly disposition. Her tenacious spirit and witty nature will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy Nelson in 1990; brother, Warren Ratliff; and niece, Kim Curlin.

Survivors include her sons, Brice Nelson and Doyle Nelson; nephew, Randy Ratliff; niece, Melody Dominguez; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
