Bettie Joyce (Throckmorton) Buckner

Bettie Joyce Throckmorton Buckner passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in Covington, Texas. She was born August 2, 1938, to Charlie and Ruby Throckmorton. There are no services at this time.

Bettie graduated from Covington High School as Valedictorian and then continued her education at Texas Wesleyan University where she excelled with honors and was on the Dean’s list. She married Charles Dean Buckner (Pete) on April 8, 1971. Bettie was always interested in the agriculture business because her father was a farmer and rancher, and she worked many years in the feed and grain business. Bettie was also the manager of the Johnson County Co-op and held her real estate license through the 60’s. She also retired from Union Pacific Railroad as an office supervisor. Bettie had a special love and devotion to her family. Bettie will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Pete Buckner of Covington; her brother, Charlie Throckmorton of Covington; niece, Brandye Vaughan and husband, Wayne of Cleburne; nephew, Brent Leverett and wife, Julie of Whitney; nephew, Taylor Throckmorton of Kopperl; niece, Katy Throckmorton of Joshua; great-nieces and nephews, Cutter Crider, Canyon Davis, Cresson Crider, Caroline Leverett, Autum Kilpatrick and Luke Leverett; great-great-nieces and nephews, Trigger Davis, Maverick Kilpatrick, Lyndie and Rhys; along with numerous cousins.

Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Throckmorton; and sister, Barbara Throckmorton Leverett.
