A family and friends celebration of the life of Betty Lohman Benson, 88, of Crowley was held in her home on Saturday, April 3, 2010.
Mrs. Benson passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Crowley. She was born August 5, 1921 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Daniel Grover and Effie Rose Weaver Lohman. She married Grady Calvin Benson on December 24, 1941 in Denver, Colorado.
She was a Literature Evangelist salesperson of Bible books for the home for over 20 years. She was a member of the Keene Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Benson was very proud of her two grandchildren, Betina Tagle-Edwards in the U.S. Navy and Chief Warrant Officer Zane Heavner with the U.S. Army in Iraq, serving their country proudly.
Betty Lohman Benson is survived by daughters, Gradie Lee Wetmore and husband Bill of Cleburne, Barbara Keightley and husband Stan of Salem, Oregon; sons, Gene Benson of Portola, California and Robert Benson of Crowley; 16 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; brother, Manford Lohman and wife Delores of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister, Florence Parker and husband Billy of Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico and beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Grady Calvin Benson on April 30, 1999; her parents; two brothers; three step brothers and one sister.
