A memorial service for Betty Burney, 78, of Cleburne will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, December 2, 2022, at Godley Western Fellowship in Godley.
Betty passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, in Cleburne. She was born to Willis Troy and Mildred Marie Brown Wallace on November 7, 1944, in West Covina, California. She was not only a “homemaker” but was truly “home” in all its essence to not only her family but countless others as well. She has been called an “angel on Earth” as well as a phenomenal wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Betty was a member of Godley Western Fellowship and had a strong faith in her Lord. She married Charles Ray Burney on October 9, 1967, in San Angelo, Texas. Her dedication to family was evident in all she did, but especially at family gatherings where she could be found cooking and taking care of those she loved. She was famous for her chicken and dumplings, apricot brandy cake and her gravy. Betty also enjoyed playing cards or dominoes and was a fierce competitor. Betty was a lover of sweets with Ferrero Rocher candies being her favorite. She enjoyed gardening as well. Her love of family and accepting spirit will be missed greatly by all she leaves behind.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James Burney; grandson, Colton; siblings, Richard “Dick” Wallace and Jeannie Wallace.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Torrinda May and Clint Hitchcock, Angela Jones and Brian, Jeanette Lynch and Darrin, Charlotte Burney and David Hoyt, Mandy Burney and Darryl Ogden; grandchildren, Adam, Christy, Jesse, Logan, Kendale, Harley, Mitchell, Jett, Lexi, Kaylen, Bridan, Dominic, Phoenix, Kimberly, Katelynn, Taylor and Gracee; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Noah, Zachary, C.J., and Bane; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
