Service for Betty Marie Ward, 90, of Joshua will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, Nov. 16, 2015 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend William C. Keisling will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. No set visitation is scheduled.
Betty Marie Ward passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015 in Joshua. She was born Aug. 17, 1925 in Joplin, MO to John Albert and Zelda Annette Williams Witte. She married Hoke Smith Ward, Jr. on Sept. 19, 1949 in Weatherford and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1986.
Mrs. Ward was a waitress at Chaf-In Restaurant for 25 years. She was also a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Robby Ward and wife Denise of Cleburne and Mary Hawthorne and husband Kevin of West; longtime companion, Charles Syrus and his two sons, Michael and Ricky Syrus; 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Peggy Voss; son, Gary Ward; son-in-law, Kenneth Voss; daughter-in-law, Sharon Robinson Syrus; and three grandchildren, Brent Ward, Randy Voss, and Kris Syrus.
