Service for Betty Whitley, 87, of Alvarado will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Brother, Weldon Branham will officiate. Burial will be in Buel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
Betty Whitley passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 in Keene. She was born May 10, 1930 in Leon, OK to Paschal A. and Marvia Roach Mobley. She married Jessie Madison “J.M.” Whitley, Jr. on Oct. 7, 1966 in Alvarado and he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1999.
Mrs. Whitley worked as a baker at Walls Hospital, retiring with 25 years of service. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Treva Lynn Brownlee of Alvarado, Shelia Newton of Cleburne and Jesse Whitley and wife Marcie of Mesa, AZ; eight grandchildren, Barbara, Traci, Jonathon, Tommy, Roy Lee, Robert, Amanda and Jesse “Bear”; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Manning and Lois Dewbre; and one brother, Sonny Mobley and wife Andrea, all of Marietta, OK. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Johnny Davenport; daughter, Patricia Walker; great grandson, Ryan Rowlett; brother, Cloy Mobley; and sisters, Wanda Wilkerson, Joyce Mobley and Treva Nichols.
