Betty Ann Watts Wright, 82, of Cleburne died on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the Gardens in Keene, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, June 5, 2007 in the First Christian of Cleburne, the Rev. Wayne Ashlock and Dr. Joe Stephens officiating. Interment will be in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery.
Prior to the services, her body will lie in state in the Chapel of Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm, Monday, June 4, 2007, at the funeral home located at 512 N. Ridgeway, in Cleburne.
Mrs. Wright was born in Cleburne, Texas on March 28, 1925, the daughter of Nathaniel William Watts, Sr. and Annie McBride Watts. She married Sam W. Wright on August 6, 1952. Mr. Wright passed away on June 16, 2004.
She was a graduate of Cleburne High School, Texas Tech University and Texas Christian University. Mrs. Wright taught in the Cleburne School System for forty years until her retirement in 1986. She was a lifelong resident of Cleburne, a lifelong member of The First Christian Church, of Cleburne, where she was Elder Emeritus. She was also a member of the Texas State Teachers Association, Retired Teachers Association, PTA, Civil War Roundtable, the DAR, Texas Tech Alumni Assocoation, Texas State Historical Association and was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International for fifty-three years.
Mrs. Wright is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Watts, of Cleburne, Texas and Sarah Wall of Fairfax, Virginia; brother, Richard Watts and wife, Lynda, of Kingwood, Texas;six nieces and nephews, six great nieces and nephews and many cousins, including Merle Warren, of Cleburne.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nathaniel Wall, Richard Watts, David Watts, David Gore, Jim Woodard and Ronnie Boyer.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the First Christian Church of Cleburne and Fowler Homes of Dallas, Texas.
