Funeral services for Bill Malone, 76, of Joshua, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Lane Prairie Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Clements and Rev. Ricky Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Vic Livingston, Joe Lilly, Melvin Earnest, Max McRaney, James Barbee, John Haley, Jr., John Haley, III and Bob Barron. Honorary pallbearers will be R.V. & Addie Richter, LaRue & Marlene Sanderson, Ernie & Betty Jackson and Amos & Lee Elder.
Mr. Malone passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Joshua. He was born December 24, 1930 in Hillsboro, Texas to Isaac Robert and Hazel Dale Moore Malone. He married Mary Ann Whitlock, September 15, 1950.
Mr. Malone worked as a machinist for the Santa Fe Shops for 15 years. He was a Baptist Minister for 30 years, pastoring at Greenbriar Baptist Church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and Buel Baptist Church, in Johnson County, retiring in 1990. He taught school and retired as a counselor in 1994 at Burleson High School, Burleson, Texas. He was active with the Johnson County Junior Livestock Association from the 1970's thru the 1990's. He was a member of Lane Prairie Baptist Church.
Bill Malone is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Malone, of Joshua, Texas; daughter, Gwen Owens and husband, Richard, of Alvarado, Texas; son, Wade Malone and wife, Wilma, of Emporia, Kansas; brother, Glenn Malone and wife, Nancy, of Hurst, Texas; grandchildren, Janna Michael and husband, Jason, of Arlington, Texas, Mark Owens, of Houston, Texas, Ricky Owens and wife, Jaime, of Alvarado, Texas and Billy and Justin Malone of Emporia, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Alex and Austin Owens and Kate and Abby Michael and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
