Graveside services for Billie Joe Britton, 74, of Joshua, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in the Lane Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the giver make a donation to their charity of choice.

Mr. Britton passed away in Fort Worth on Saturday, September 10, 2011. He was born to Joe Middlebrooks and Velma Inez Talley Britton on October 8, 1936 in Cleburne. Billie Joe served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Evelyn LeSueur on January 24, 1958 in Joshua. He was a member of Lane Prairie Baptist Church. Mr. Britton was a patriotic man who was up for a good debate about politics or any other subject matter. He was a fun loving man, often known as a jokester. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. Billie Joe's strong character and laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Ervin David Britton.

Survivors include his beloved dogs, Buddy Ray and Bonnie Sue Britton; children, Vanessa Lynn Grozier, Billy Joe Britton, Anthony Ray Britton, and Julie Renee Britton; grandchildren, Laura Ann, Charles, Jennifer, Billy Joe, and Benjamin David; great grandson, Billy Joe; "little sister", Gerry Makarwich; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
