Service for Billie Davis, 87, of Alvarado will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, Mar. 9, 2017 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Pastor David Shiflet and Minister Lucas Mackey will officiate. Burial will be in Venus Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Patterson, Alex Butler, J. Michael Shiflet, Todd Davis, Jeremy Bastible and Dennis Browning. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Billie Davis passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Keene. She was born Feb. 12, 1930 in Ellis County to Joseph Newton and Sarah Ann Barnett Goad. She married Floyd Julian Davis on June 25, 1947 in Cleburne and he preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2007. She then married E.W. “Dutch” Cantrell on Sept. 27, 2008 in Cottondale and he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 2014.
Mrs. Davis worked as a secretary for Venus Grain for 10 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Venus.
Survivors include her three children, J. Lynn Davis and wife Lena of Hillsboro, Ellen “Susie” Mackey and husband Nolan of Cleburne and Sherri Lee Appleton and husband Richard of Alvarado; five grandchildren, Gina Shiflet, Todd Davis, Lucas Mackey, Amber Bastible and Alex Butler; seven great grandchildren; brother, James Goad and wife Lyla of Ft. Worth; and two stepchildren, Kellis Warren and Steve Cantrell. She was also preceded in death by her parents; stepdaughter, Donna McLeod and nine brothers and sisters.
