A private family graveside will be held for Billie Jean “B.J.” (Matthews) Huneycutt, 91, of Arlington, Texas in Rosehill Cemetery, Cleburne, Texas. Reverend John Glover will officiate.
Billie Jean passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, in Arlington. She was born June 1, 1931, in Godley, Texas to Martin Eugene and Deolia Inez (Dilleshaw) Matthews. Billie Jean married Weldon Glen Huneycutt on August 3, 1947, in Cleburne. They were married for 73 years before his passing on May 12, 2021. She was a member of Field Street Baptist Church for many years. Billie was a bookkeeper for over 30 years, and in more recent years, bookkeeper for the family business…The Cleburne Chiropractic Clinic.
B.J. made her home with Weldon in Berthoud Colorado from 2012 until 2021, where she loved driving in the mountains. Estes Park was always her favorite destination on these day trips. And, she was closer to her children, who resided nearby. Besides day trips in the mountains, she was an avid thrift shopper. She enjoyed shopping for and finding treasures! Shopping of any kind was so enjoyable to her. “Mom B”, as she was affectionately called by the grandchildren, loved her family and delighted in FaceTiming when not near enough for a real, in-person visit. Her iPhone brought her much pleasure AND aggravation in later years! She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Vick (husband, Larry Tarrant) of Windsor, CO; daughter-in-law, Wanda Huneycutt of McKinney, TX; grandchildren Angela Vick, Bradley Huneycutt and Abbey Dowdy (husband, Ryan); great-grandchild Harper Rose Dowdy; sister, Sue Crosier of Arlington, Texas, and nieces and nephews.
B.J. was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Dr. Steven G. Huneycutt, who passed away in 2022; and brother-in-law, Nolte Crosier.
