A celebration of life service for Billie Jean Skinner, 79, of Burleson, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Kirkpatrick officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
Billie Jean Skinner passed away on Friday January 31, 2025 in Fort Worth. She was born on May 3, 1945, in Knox City, Texas. She was of the Church of Christ faith. Billie married Marvin L. “Pete” Skinner on February 16, 1962, in Elk City, Oklahoma. They moved to Pampa, Texas in 1965. Together they owned and operated several businesses. Kingsmill Grocery, D & S Suzuki, and Skinner Motor Company, of which she “ran” them all. They retired from the car business and left Pampa in 2007 to move to Burleson, Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. "Ma", as she was known by, had a unique and special relationship with each and every one of her grandkids. She loved that all their friends called her 'Ma" too. Billie loved reading, watching her reality TV shows, and connecting with family and friends on social media. Billie could sew anything and made her children’s clothing in their younger years, blankets and doll clothes for her grandkids, as well as countless treasures in plastic canvas throughout their adult years. She was an avid animal lover, especially of Boston Terrier dogs and cats of all kinds. She was also a big sports fan of the OU Sooners and NASCAR. She had a generous heart with a patriotic soul and loved our country. Billie was the family historian. She loved genealogy and keeping up with loved ones and their goings on. Billie was a lady who everyone loved and will be missed greatly. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Lowrance; mother, Lena Burleson Roles; stepfather, Buster “Doc” Roles; and sister, Shirley Revert.
Survivors include her husband of almost 63 years, Marvin L. “Pete” Skinner, Sr.; children, Sherri Campbell & her husband, Jim, Marvin “Boy” Skinner, Jr. & his wife, Tina, and James Skinner & his wife, Terri; grandchildren, Chris Campbell, Kymber Campbell, Parker Skinner, Berkley Schuette & her husband, Mike, Joey Skinner & his wife, Bethany, and Leighanne Skinner; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Schuette and Luke Schuette; brother, Jerry Holland; and numerous nieces, nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
