Billy Harwell

Graveside services for Billy E. Harwell, 78, of Rio Vista will be held at Rio Vista Cemetery at 10:00 am, Monday, December 21, 2009 with Rev. Alton Harwell officiating. Gregory Martin, Matt Cappers, Walt Cappers, Jeff Harwell, Lee Smith, and Timmy Hutchison will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Harwell was born to the late, J.W. and Stella Wiley Harwell on August 29, 1931 in Dawson, Texas. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, December 18, 2009 in Fort Worth. Billy was married to Shirley Bruton for 27 years. He later married Lou Doane in the 1980's. He was a member of Rio Vista Baptist Church. Billy worked as a dairy farmer for 27 years and then for PCT. #1 of Johnson County. He was a family man in every sense of the phrase, always putting his girls first. He was known for being the kind of man that always had an open door and heart. It can be said that he never met a stranger. Billy was a good man, whose giving nature and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lou Harwell; sister, Evelyn; brothers, J.W. and Stanley; and granddaughter, Jeannie Earley.

Survivors include his daughters, Lynda Earley and husband, David, Brenda Matthews, Sharon Cappers and husband, Donnie, and Karon Estep; siblings and their spouses, Kenneth and Wanda Harwell, Alfred and Carolyn Harwell, Edna Hackler, Betty and Waymon Hall, Nancy and Hoss Hutchison; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
