Graveside service for Billy Joe Hirst, 83, of Burleson, will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 11, 2024, in Brazos Point Cemetery with Mr. Brandon Knight officiating.
Billy passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Burleson. He was born February 19, 1941 in Riverside, California to Joseph Warren and Evvie Lee (Nichols) Hirst. Billy was of the Pentecostal faith. He married Linda Gail Mears on October 26, 1966 in Tijuana, Mexico. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a Welder in the Structural industry and as an Artist for Walt Disney Animation. Billy spent the majority of his career as a welder/fitter. He was a fisherman but also enjoyed sketching, oil painting and antique cars. He adored his family, calling his granddaughters “country punkins 1 & 2”. Billy will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda; son, Brent Hirst and Lisa Banaszek; grandchildren, Brittany Abernathy and Sean, Katherine Hirst and Lane Copeland; great-grandchildren, Rylee Maddox, Josie Maddox, and Lily Abernathy; and daughter-in-law, Mary Hirst.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Billy Joe Hirst, Jr., and Brian Keith Hirst; and sister, Gloria Hirst.
