A graveside service for Billy Joe (B. J.) Jones, 90, of Fort Worth, will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 12, 2023 in Bono Cemetery, Johnson County.
B.J. passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He was born September 11, 1933, in Cleburne, the oldest child of Hugh (Bill) Jones and Iva Lou Wallace of Johnson County, Texas. B. J. graduated from Cleburne High School, attended Tarleton State College, and graduated from the University of Missouri. He served in the Air Force for two years. His career began at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, and continued at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a data reduction engineer involved in flight testing in extreme weather conditions at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, International Falls, Minnesota, Leadville, Colorado, and Yuma, Arizona. Returning to Fort Worth in 1972, he was employed in real estate and insurance before working at Bell Helicopter/Textron until he retired. B. J. enjoyed hunting and fishing from an early age and throughout his life wherever he lived. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lanell Jones Laird, and his brother Marley Calvin Jones.
B. J. is survived by his former wife, Barbara Dalton Taylor Jones, his daughter Tiffany A. Jones and her partner John Spyropulos, son Kevin David Taylor of Fort Worth; grandchildren Kelsey B. Crust and her partner, Majer Lovin, of Fort Worth, Kristen Schooley and husband Tim, Austin David Taylor, and wife Hannah of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan and Alex Taylor of Tulsa, and Elliott Z. Lovin of Fort Worth. He is also survived by a brother, Larry Hugh Jones and his wife Cinda Vassar Jones of Cleburne, their daughter Chanda, her husband Scott and their son Seth of Franklin, Texas. Survivors also include nephews, Lyndon and Harold Laird and their families of Grandview.
Mr. Jones will be buried at Bono Cemetery, Johnson County, in the community his ancestors founded in the 1870s and where four generations of his Jones ancestors are buried.
The family would like to thank Emerald Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and Freedom Hospice for their care and diligence in taking care of B.J. during his end days.
