Billy Poland passed away May 31, 2021, in Cleburne. He was born to William James “Bill” and Daisy Mae (Fuller) Poland on March 9, 1926, in Crowley, Texas. He married Lucille Laverne “Lucy” (Moses) Poland on December 24,1943 in Dallas, Texas. Billy was a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church. He served in the Army and World War II from 1944-1946. Billy was a 50-year Mason for the Smithfield Lodge. He served as a Board Director with United Co-Op for 31 years. Billy, known as “Pop” by his grandchildren, enjoyed the outdoors while fishing, hunting and being a dairy farmer. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and bowling as well. He also played dominoes (42) even up to his last days. Billy was always willing to help in any way he could. He will be missed greatly.
Service for Billy James Poland, 95, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 4, 2021, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in Bono Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Crosier-Pearson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Garrett Brucker, Masen Smith, Dryden Taylor, Dustin Torres, Dalton Torres, Bo Votaw, Darryle Taylor and Ben Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Johnson, Rick Doty, Dennis Padgett, Danny Parker, Dick Latham, Roy Tipton, Trey Hodapp and Ryan Holcomb.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Walker and Kathi Taylor; grand-daughters, Tracy Hodapp and Trey, Misty Votaw and Bo; grandsons- in-law, Ben Smith and Todd Brucker; beloved great-grandchildren, Garrett Brucker, Meagan Brucker, Bayley Votaw, Delayna Votaw, Masen Smith, Ryan Holcomb, Madi Holcomb and Olivia Holcomb; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents; wife; grand-daughters, Wende Walker-Smith and Kelle Brucker; and siblings, Ann Parker, Charles and Charlene Poland.
