Billye Talley

Services for Billye Inez (Landers) Talley, 95, of Cleburne, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 14, 2024, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel with Reverend John Glover officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Concord Cemetery in Omaha, Texas. The family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 A.M. prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers are Bob Talley, Nathan Talley, Jason Taylor, Sam Willson, Ted Beeman and Jordan Liska. Honorary pallbearer is Brody Bourg.

Billye was born on March 16, 1929, in Robert Lee, Texas, Billye was a proud member of the Field Street Baptist Church. She married Winfred S. Talley on November 24, 1949, in Ballinger, Texas, enjoying 64 years of marriage until his passing in August 2014. A dedicated educator, Billye retired from the Alvarado Independent School District, where she touched the lives of many students. Billye demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her family, often "sharing" her children with her sisters-in-law. She was recognized as the valedictorian of her high school graduating class and was the first in her family to attend college, earning a bachelor's degree from Hardin-Simmons University and a master's degree in education from Texas Tech University. Alongside her husband, she embraced an active lifestyle, enjoying running and exercise. Billye will be remembered for her kindness, love for family, and dedication to education, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and affection for all who knew her.

Billye's love extended particularly to her grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Her legacy continues through her surviving family, including her children and their spouses, Robert Wyn Talley and Jackie, Marsha Talley Thauwald and Pete, and Ronald Joe Talley and Belinda; her grandchildren and their spouses, Ashley Ruth Willson and Sam, Jason Edward Taylor and Tara, Susan Marie Beeman and Ted, Bob Swint Talley and Tara, Lynnette Viola Liska and Jordan, and Nathan Joe Talley; as well as her great-grandchildren, Emma, Bethany, Katie, Jet, Allyson, Ali Jane, Alicia, Olen, Ivan, and August. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Robertson; her sister, Elaine Bennett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie R. and Boneita “Bonnie” (Brown) Landers Robertson; her beloved husband, Winfred S. Talley; and siblings, Gertrude, Faye, Lonelle, Wilton, Bonita, and Charlene.
