Brenda Kay Petty, known affectionately as "Everyone's favorite Aunt B," departed this world on January 18, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on April 6, 1951, in Farmington, New Mexico, her spirit was as vibrant and dynamic as the country folk songs she loved to sing.
Brenda lived a life marked by independence and tenacity. She married Kenneth Randall Petty on November 26, 1976 in Snyder, Texas. She was a woman who reveled in the joys of nature, finding solace and excitement in camping and fishing. Her active lifestyle was a testament to her feisty personality; she embodied a zest for life that left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Tonya Gilley and her husband, Mike, and her sons, Brian Petty and Brenton “Casey” Petty and wife Shirley. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Madison Smith, Courtney Petty, Ashleigh Petty, and Conner Petty, as well as her great-grandchild, Oliver Smith. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will remember her warmth and enthusiasm for living life to the fullest.
Brenda is predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth Randall Petty; her parents, Orian Lyndell and Mary Arvetta (Staggs) Peikert. She also mourns the loss of her sisters, Sonya Hoover, Irene Peikert-Francis, and Caroline Peikert, each of whom played significant roles in her life.
Her passing leaves a significant void, but the memories of her laughter, love for dogs, and spirited personality will forever echo in the hearts of her family and friends. Brenda Kay Petty’s life was a celebration of the relationships she nurtured, the adventures she embarked upon, and the love she shared with everyone around her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
