Buddy Roberts, also known as Grumpy, 68, of Rio Vista passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 in Burleson. He was born November 25, 1940 in Greenwood, Mississippi to the late, Dixie Greer and Edna Mae Nabors Roberts. He married Sherry Jones on November 11, 1983 in San Antonio. Buddy worked as a welder for numerous years. He was a member of the Rescue Missions Baptist Church in Cleburne. Buddy was a family man that strongly believed in serving God first, your fellowman second, and then yourself. He was a talented musician, loving to play blue grass and gospel music; often for nursing homes and churches. Mr. Roberts served in the armed forces and was a member of the VFW in Alvarado and Odd Fellows in McGregor. He and his wife, Sherry, are both retired, life members of the Gypsy Motorcycle Club. Grumpy was the kind of man that gave freely, always telling those that he gave to, not worry about paying him back, but to pass it on to someone else. His good hearted nature and loving spirit will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Stanley Greer Roberts and Terry Roberts.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Roberts; sons, Phillip Roberts and wife, Alaina, Jerry Roberts and wife Judy, and W.L. Roberts; 6 grandchildren; brothers, Earl Roberts and Don Roberts; sisters, Wanda Dorrough and Ruth Cude; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
