Cara Lafon

Service for Cara Florine Walker Lafon, 97, of Springfield, Missouri will be held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, December 17, 2022, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Mike Mizell will officiate. Burial to follow in George’s Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be at 2:00 P.M., December 17, 2022, prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Brady Kilgallen, Blair Kilgallen, Sam Martinez, Terry Gaulding, Johnny Williams, and Sidney Williams.

Florine passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022, in Springfield. She was born December 26, 1924, in Malakoff, Texas to Willie Burns and Henrietta Floyd Walker. Florine married Benjamin H. Lafon on June 9, 1951, in Jay, Florida. She was a licensed minister in the Assemblies of God. Florine and Ben were missionaries to Honduras and Ecuador for 45 years.

Florine was preceded in death by her siblings, Benny Walker, Willie Walker, Jr., Loyd “Bud” Walker, Charles Walker, Frances Chambers, Opal Lavoie, Celia Mae Walker, and Florence Carroll.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ben H. Lafon, formerly of Cleburne; children, Rebecca Kirst and husband, Dan, Rachel Kilgallen and husband, Blair, and Robert Lafon and wife, Edie; grandchildren, Kristen Van Wyk, Brady Kilgallen, Kathleen Kirst, Laura Boddicker, Kara Lafon, Katie Brown, and Kelly Day; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Sims and Rubietta Crossley.
