Services for Cecil Clayton Carper, 89, of Rio Vista, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2007 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Paul Pinyan will officiate. Mr. Carper's grandsons are serving as pallbearers.
Cecil Clayton Carper went to be with his Lord on October 8, 2007. He was born November 28, 1917 in Lone Willow, TX; the son of Thurman and Ona Jane (Hutchison) Carper. He married Cora B. Leverett on August 23, 1940. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista. Cecil spent most of his working career with the City of Cleburne as a heavy equipment operator. He retired from Lone Star Gas Co. and then operated his own gravel business for many years. He served as a deacon in both the Lone Willow and Rio Vista Baptist Churches. Cecil also served nineteen years on the Rio Vista ISD School Board.
Survivors include his wife Cora of 67 years; Children: Barbara Pugh, Rio Vista; John Carper and wife Peggy, Rio Vista; Janie Junge and husband Glenn, Cleburne; Betty Curtis and husband Brady, Arlington; Doris Stout and husband John, Rio Vista; Grandchildren: Clayton and Leta Pugh, Tina and Frank Cox, Robert and Rachel Pugh, Sherry and Steve Murdock, Gary and Kelly Carper, David and Staci Junge, Annell and Richard Russell, Curtis Junge, Corrie Junge, Brandon Curtis, and Brianna Curtis; Great Grandchildren: Jessica, Vaness, Michael, Emily, and Sarah Pugh; Eric and Nathan Abbott; J.D. and Jacob Glass; Megan and Lucas Murdock; Jana and Jason Vanlandingham; Shelby, Reily, Baillie, and Jared Junge; Tommy, Kolby and Kasey Russell; Great-Great Grandchildren: Jansen and Justyce Vanlandingham; Brothers: Troy Fay and Joe Carper, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Arthur, Roy and Irvin Carper, sister Beulah Mae McNatt and son-in-law Albert Pugh.
