Services for Cecil Proffitt, 77, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Field Street Baptist Church. Dr. John Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Hico Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joel McKelva, Dennis Austin, Jeff young, Ronnie Reid, Bill Jones and James Jones.
Mr. Proffitt passed away Sunday, September 18, 2005 in Waco. He was born June 09, 1928 in Hico, Texas, to Ray and Alice Gregory Proffitt. He married Bernice Berna on May 31, 1948 in Dublin, Texas.
Cecil Proffitt retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy Seabees as a First Class Petty Officer. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was involved in a supply expedition to the South Pole. Mr. Proffitt was a Cletran driver for 11 years with the city of Cleburne. He was a member of the Satellite Travel Club, the Fleet Reserve Association and Field Street Baptist Church.
Cecil Proffitt is survived by his wife, Bernice Proffitt of Cleburne; son, Rodney Proffitt and wife Paulinda of Granbury; grandson, David Proffitt and wife Christie of Granbury; great granddaughters, Elizabeth Proffitt and Sarah Thompson both of Granbury; brother, George Donald Proffitt and partner Holly Mortensen of Joshua; sister Margarett Little and husband Robert of Halton City, Texas.
