Services for Celeste Etter, 101, of Cleburne will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Crosier Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Niedecken officiating. Burial will follow at Cleburne Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Etter was born to the late, Gordon S. and Lydia L. Abernathy Thomas on December 30, 1907 in Alvarado. She was married to her late husband, Forrest Etter, for over 50 years at the time of his death in 1983. Celeste worked as a bookkeeper, retiring after 13 years service with Bryan Miller Auto Sales. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Etter was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #20 for 70 years, and served as Worthy Matron in 1947-48. She has been a member of the HB&J Club since 1947. It has been said that she never met a stranger and could find the good in everyone. Her giving nature, strong faith and little grin will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Byron and Dillard Thomas; sisters, Emolie Taggart, Frances Sanders, and Joye F. Hickman.
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces, nephews; great great nieces and nephews; special friends, Betty Hatcher and Amanda Seale; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
