Service for Charles J. Duke, 79, of Cleburne will be conducted at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Brother Carr Parrish will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-4:00 P.M., Thursday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, with a visitation from 9-10:00 A.M., prior to the service, at the cemetery.
Charles J. Duke, 79, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 in Cleburne. He was born March 7, 1937 in Brownwood to Charles Robert and Ruby Henderson Duke. He graduated Early High School in Early, Texas in 1955. He married Wanda Mae Blackwood on March 22, 2003.
Mr. Duke served in the United States Army from 1960-1962. He worked for Pioneer Natural Gas Co. /Energas, retiring in 1998 after 36 years of service. He enjoyed traveling in his R.V., fishing, playing dominos, woodworking, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Cleburne. Charles will be remembered for his smile, laughter, silly pranks, and his devotion to his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Mae Duke of Cleburne; daughter, Debbra Johnson of Wilmington, DE; stepdaughters, Gina Eide of Cleburne and Kelley Lutt of Ft. Worth; stepsons, Dwain, David, Derek and Diron Rotan, all of Midland; many beloved grandchildren; great grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 34 years, Lynna F. Duke; second wife of 4 years, Peggy Rotan Duke; and a stepdaughter, Stacy Peterson.
