Funeral services for Charles L. Jones, 73, of Godley, will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Garrett Smith, Patrick Jones, Larry Doty, Bill Belzen, Andy Jones, Paul Jones, Les Doty and Rick Doty will serve as pallbearers. Jaden Smith, Cady Smith, Nicole Jones, Dannielle Thomas, Ken Bowles and Avery Thomas will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday.
Mr. Jones passed away Friday, April 30, 2010 in Fort Worth. He was born to Charles M. and Cathy Lea Jones on October 10, 1936 in Meridian, Texas. Charles married Janie L. Nickell on December 28, 1956 in Cleburne, Texas. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He worked over 30 years with Bell Helicopter, retiring in 1998. Charles was a 32nd degree Mason (Cleburne) and a member of the Scottish Rite (Fort Worth). It has been said that he was loved by everyone and never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing with the boys and being outdoors in general. Charles will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janie L. Jones; children and their spouses, Charles Robert and Tina Jones, James D. and Amy Jones; Cynthia and Dean Smith; grandchildren, Dannielle Thomas and husband, Derek, Patrick Jones, Garrett, Cady and Jaden Smith and Nicole Jones; great grandchild, Avery Thomas; sister, Charlotte Bowles and husband, Frank; sisters and brother in law, Sondra Jones, Barbara Jones, Lanelle Allen, Shirley Doty and Wyndlon Doty; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
