Charles Mathis

Services for Charles Fernando Mathis, 84, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 14, 2020, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Charles Payne will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday, November 13, 2020 at the funeral home.

Charles Mathis passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in Cleburne. He was born April 6, 1936 in Johnson County to Homer and Mary (Hadley) Mathis. He married Helen Doty on September 1, 1956 in Joshua. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He adored his wife, Helen, of over 60 years who passed away in 2017. Charles was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He was passionate about his family and his church.

Survivors include his son, Jay Mathis and wife Julie; daughter, Penni Kimm and husband John; grandchildren, Kolby Wallis, Autumn Van Winkle, Brooke Lawson, and Ricky Mathis, Jr.; 5 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Lee Davidson and Donnie Davidson.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Helen; son, Ricky Mathis; and brothers, Clois Logsdon and George Mathis.
