Charles Shipp

Service for Charles E. Skip Shipp, 82, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Charles E. Skip Shipp passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 in Ft. Worth. He was born Sept. 26, 1930 in Groesbeck to J.D., Sr. and Fannie Malone Shipp. He married Helen Louise Fagan on Oct. 13, 1950 in Everman.

Skip served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He was owner and operator of Shipp Air Company, Fort Worth for over 27 years before retiring in 2003. Skip was truly a jack of all trades, holding licenses in not only air conditioning but also in plumbing, electrical and as a commercial rated pilot. He was a member of numerous organizations including the NRA. It has been said that he was an eccentric man who was a born leader, fighter and lifelong learner. He enjoyed farming, especially bailing hay. For many years he never went to bed without reading his bible first. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Joshua. Skip was a giving man who often dropped whatever he was doing in order to help someone. His giving nature and independent spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Helen; daughter, Marla Roth and husband Steve; granddaughter, Kayla Pitts, brother, Dr. J.D. Shipp Jr. and wife Sandra; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Sympson and Mozelle Wren; and brothers, Melvin and Alva Shipp.
