Services for Charles Steward, 77, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel with Reverends Jay Jones and Troy Sullivan officiating. Glen, Walter, Don, Larry, Jody and Jonathan Steward will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Barnett and Jamie Derrick. Burial will be in the Greenacres Memorial Park.
Mr. Steward passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 in Cleburne. He was born to Mark Edward and Lena Mae Easley Steward on November 20, 1932 in Paris, Texas. Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Glenda Branch on September 2, 1955 in Midland. He was a member of the Cleburne Church of God.
Charles worked as an independent truck driver for 40 years. Although he retired 15 years ago, he was always thinking of ways to make money for his family. Charles enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes, specifically 42. His strong will and loving nature will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Glenda Steward of Cleburne; children and their spouses, Charlotte Rogers of Cleburne, Nita Jones and Jay of Clayton, NM, Glen Steward and Terri of Godley, Pat Rogers of New Braunsfel, Walter Steward and Anna of Cleburne, Don Steward and Cheryl of Grandview, Larry Steward and Teresa of Weatherford, and Jody Steward and Natalie of Godley; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Rita Barnett of Cleburne; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
