Charles E. Strickland, of Bono, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020, in Fort Worth.
Visitation will be Monday, December 21, 2020, 6-8 PM, in Crosier-Pearson Funeral Home, Cleburne. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.at Crosier-Pearson. Burial will follow in Bono Cemetery.
Charles was born May 2, 1936 in Cleburne, to JD and Margaret Decker Strickland. He married the love of his life, Sally Jones, on August 23, 1957. He was a long-time member of Field St. Baptist Church, and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Rio Vista, Tex. Charles served 6 years in the 49th Armored Division of the Texas National Guard. He worked 43 years for the Santa Fe and BNSF Railway, as a Conductor. Charles held part-time jobs with Bill Thetford Muffler Shop, Bill Beard Automotive, B & S Automotive and Welding. In retirement, he was an electrician for his cousin, Ronnal London of London Electric.
He loved rodeo, raising and breaking horses; was a pick-up man for Bernis Johnson of B-J Rodeo Company; and a member of the Johnson County Sheriff's Posse, since 1959; and at present was an Honorary Member of the Posse. He was well-known for his candy-making, and metal angels he made for friends for their yards.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Jones Strickland; daughter, Saletta Strickland Morgan, three grand-sons: Hoston Hanna, and wife, Jordan; Saleton Morgan, and special friend, Halee; and Saddler Morgan; and sister, Linda Bolling. He was preceded in death by his parents, JD and Margaret Decker Strickland, and sisters, Elaine Lanman and Nelda Parker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Field St. Baptist Church, 201 N. Field St., Cleburne.
