Graveside services for Charles Allan Wolfe, Jr., 88, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 in the Rosehill Cemetery. Dr. Tony Torres, pastor of the Cleburne Central Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Charles Allan Wolfe, Jr. went to sleep in the Lord, Nov. 8, 2009 in Cleburne. He was born Sept. 3, 1921 in Baxter Springs, Kan. to Charlie Lee and Ellen Whitescarver Wolfe.
Charles was the oldest of six children. He was a child of the Great Depression and left home at age 10 to earn money to help feed his brothers and sisters. He joined the U.S. Army in September 1942 and was soon serving as a tank driver in the "Hell-On-Wheels" unit under General George Patton. He was wounded in 1944 and discharged in 1945. Charles married Joyce Blankenship, Mar. 12, 1945, in Galena, Kan. During his civilian life he worked in the auto industry.
Charles Wolfe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Jean Wolfe of Cleburne; daughter, Dr. Penny Moore and husband Bob of Cleburne; 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; two siblings, Betty Venturella of Riverton, Kan. and Leland Wolfe of Tulsa, Okla.
