Service for Clara Bush Martindale, 78, of Grandview, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 30, 2022, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Chaplain Eddy Carrell will be officiating. Burial to follow in Derden Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the funeral home.
Clara passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, in Grandview. She was born January 9, 1944, in Azle, Texas to Odie Franklin and Johnnie Margaret (Nichols) Bush. Clara married Thadeous Ray Martindale in 1961 in Rio Vista, Texas. “Sister Lou” as she was known to everyone was a serious game player. She was a talented seamstress, even made house shoes. Clara enjoyed music, dancing, camping, coloring and gardening. Her life was truly about her family. She was famous for her fried chicken and banana pudding. Her last words of wisdom were “always salt and pepper your food.” The many life lessons, devotion to family and love of laughter will be treasured by all who she leaves behind, as they all enjoy their 3 C’s.
Clara is survived by her children, Thadeous Ray Martindale, Jr. and wife, Rita of Memphis, Texas, Johnnie Bertha Martindale of Walnut Springs, Texas, Sharan Jo Lackey and husband, Doug of Covington, Texas, Terri Leah Martindale of Grandview, Texas, Patsy LaVerne Cooper and husband, Gary of Covington, Texas, and Roy Eugene Martindale and wife, Chelsea of Woodbury, Texas; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Marion Bush and wife, Marilyn of Joshua, Texas, Odie Franklin Bush, Jr. of Godley, Texas, and Mackie Jo Hancock of Whitney, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; twin brother, Uriah Eugene Bush; and granddaughter, Raylene Margaret Russell; sisters-in-law, Kay Bush and Patsy Bush.
