Sgt. 1st Class, James R. Powell, USA, Retired, 86, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 in Cleburne. He was born October 4, 1921 in Atlanta, Georgia. He married Helen Preston on July 27, 1946 in Mobile, Alabama.
Sgt. Powell served 30 years in the United States Army during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was of the Baptist faith.
Sgt. Powell is survived by his daughter, Deanna White of Cleburne; brother, Houston Powell of Merrick, NY; sister-in-law, Patsy Pierce of Cleburne and grandchildren, Shelby, Cody, Christopher, Chase, Justin, Kennedy and Delanie White and Brianna Shelton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Powell on May 19, 2006.
