Claude B. Masters was born to Claude Pinkney and Ola Mae Rollins Masters on July 25, 1930 in Cleburne, Texas. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Jenita Whites on June 1, 1949 in Cleburne. Claude worked as an attorney at law for over 40 years in the Houston area. He had a great passion for the legal system and worked diligently to serve his clients and community. During his career he taught several legal courses, sharing his knowledge and experience with students aspiring to become attorneys. He was an alumni of the University of Houston, a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association and the American Bar Association, as well as a member of the Jaycees. Claude was a member of the American Legion, Post 50, Cleburne and of the Disabled American Veterans Association. After retiring he became an Alpaca rancher.
He believed in keeping your mind agile and of life learning. Claude even dressed as a rodeo clown and gave presentations to school children. He was an avid reader, enjoying western novels and most anything about history and the legal system. However, his daily readings included devotionals and his Bible. Claude was a man of great faith and it was most important to him that he led his children to the Lord and that they had a relationship with their savior. He was a longtime member of Westhill Church of Christ.
Claude enjoyed spending his free time fishing and sharing his love of travel and history with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love of life and learning as well as his quiet but everlasting mark on the countless lives he touched will be forever remembered fondly. Claude was preceded in death by his father, Claude Pinkney Masters; mother, Ola Mae Clifton; and sister, Patsy Masters Strickland.
Survivors include his wife, Jenita Masters; children, Danette Rankin and her husband, Richard, Claude (Tommy) Masters and his wife, Linda, and Teresa P. Leck and her husband, Kevin; 6 grandchildren, Mathew, Melissa, Michelle, Ted, Patrick and Tonya; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Benjamin Franklin Masters; sister, Stella Masters Urban; numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
